Hearing well keeps your brain engaged
When hearing fades, the brain works harder just to decode sound. In the ACHIEVE study, older adults at higher risk of cognitive decline who used hearing aids for three years had 48% slower cognitive decline than those who didn't.

What are OTC hearing aids?
OTC (over-the-counter) hearing aids are hearing aids you can buy online or in a store without a prescription, a hearing exam or a fitting appointment. They are designed for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. BLACKSHEEP sells rechargeable OTC-style hearing aids direct from the factory, in invisible in-ear, behind-the-ear and under-€30 models.
Which BLACKSHEEP hearing aid should I choose?
Choose by style first. For an invisible fit, GM-990 is our bestseller: it weighs 2 g, uses AI noise reduction and lasts 120 hours with its UV cleaning case. For all-day comfort behind the ear, GM-321T is our #2 bestseller, with a UV and drying case and up to 200 hours of battery. For the lowest price, GM-311 is our #3 bestseller: a pair with a charging case for under €30. Use the three-question finder on this page to narrow it down.
What is the difference between in-ear and behind-the-ear hearing aids?
In-ear hearing aids sit inside the ear canal, so they are almost invisible and don't get in the way of glasses. Behind-the-ear hearing aids sit behind the ear and send sound into the canal through a thin tube or wire; they are easier to handle, usually have bigger batteries and suit people who want more adjustment. BLACKSHEEP in-ear models include GM-990, GM-955, G93 and GM-903. Behind-the-ear models include GM-321T, GM-323, GM-313 and A-360B.
How much do hearing aids cost?
Hearing aids from a clinic often cost €790 to €1,100 or more per model, and the same kinds of models sell online for about €170 to €620. BLACKSHEEP sells them direct from the factory: GM-990 and GM-321T cost €85.58, and GM-311 costs €23.76 for a pair. Prices on this page were checked on 30 September 2026; the product page always shows today's price.
How long do rechargeable hearing aids last on one charge?
Most BLACKSHEEP hearing aids last 14 to 50 hours on one charge, and their charging cases add several more full charges. GM-321T lasts 25 hours per charge and up to 200 hours with its case, G93 lasts 30 hours and up to 150 hours, and GM-990 lasts 20 hours and up to 120 hours. Most models charge over USB-C in 1 to 3 hours.
What does a UV cleaning case do?
A UV cleaning case uses ultraviolet light to clean your hearing aids while they charge. GM-990's case runs a 5-minute UV cycle, GM-955 starts cleaning on its own when you close the lid, and GM-321T's case also dries the hearing aids. GM-323 has a UV case too.
Can hearing aids connect to my phone or TV?
Yes, some can. BLACKSHEEP GM-903 pairs with your phone over Bluetooth, and A-360B streams phone calls, music and TV audio over Bluetooth. The other models work on their own and don't need a phone or an app.
Do hearing aids work in noisy places like restaurants?
Yes. Modern digital hearing aids reduce background noise so speech is easier to follow. GM-990 uses AI scene recognition to adjust to where you are, and 16-channel models such as GM-323, GM-313 and GM-303 split sound into 16 bands to filter noise more precisely. Many models also have 3 listening modes you can switch between.
Can hearing aids help protect brain health?
Research suggests they can for some people. In the ACHIEVE study, published in The Lancet in 2023, older adults at higher risk of cognitive decline who used hearing aids had 48% slower cognitive decline over three years than those who didn't. Hearing loss is also linked to social isolation, so hearing better can help people stay engaged. This is research on hearing aids in general, not on specific BLACKSHEEP models.
Do hearing aids help with tinnitus (ringing in the ears)?
They can help many people. Amplifying everyday sounds makes ringing less noticeable, and some hearing aids add dedicated sound-therapy programs. If tinnitus is your main concern, talk to a hearing professional about the right approach.
Can hearing aids help with balance and falls?
Studies have linked hearing-aid use with better balance and fewer falls in older adults, because hearing helps you stay aware of your surroundings. Some people feel slightly off balance for the first few days while they get used to new hearing aids; this usually passes quickly.
How do I put in and fit an OTC hearing aid?
Choose the ear tip size that feels snug, turn the volume to its lowest setting, place the hearing aid in or behind your ear, then turn it on and raise the volume slowly. Don't push an ear tip deep into the ear canal. Every BLACKSHEEP hearing aid comes with several ear tip sizes and an operation guide.
