What the optical industry charges 350–600 £ for. We charge 24.65 £.
At a traditional optician, protective coatings are upsold at 50–100 £ each. At Blacksheep, anti-UV, anti-scratch, and anti-reflective treatments are standard on every single lens. Discover why traditional eyewear is marked up over 1000% in our full Compare The Chain price audit.
Eco frame
Lightweight, durable frame crafted for daily wear. Available in XS, S, M, and L sizes. Explore hundreds of shape and colour combinations.
Single vision
Corrects a single focal distance: myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism. The most common prescription lens standard.
Progressive
Includes Standard, Deluxe, Mid-Range, and Near-Range parameters. Traditional optical shops charge over 350 £ for identical progressive designs.
Anti-UV coating • Anti-scratch coating • Anti-reflective coating. There are no boxes to check and no hidden upsells. Protective laboratory calibration is applied standard on our basic pairs as well as our multifocal offerings.

Do I need a prescription to order?
What is Pupillary Distance (PD) — and do I need it?
PD (Pupillary Distance) measures the precise distance in millimetres between your pupils, ensuring the optical centre of each lens aligns perfectly with your gaze. It is simple to acquire:
• Request it from your optometrist — they maintain it on file.
• Measure online in under twenty seconds using trusted optical utilities: opticontacts.com/pd-tool.html or demo.luna.io/pages/pupillary-distance.
• Download our free printable PD ruler calibration →
If your PD data is missing during processing, our opticians will contact you directly to assist.
How long does laboratory crafting and delivery take?
How do progressive lenses work — is it complicated?
• Standard — Balanced, everyday parameters optimised for general use. Included.
• Deluxe (+22.95 £) — Expanded peripheral corridors, optimised for driving and active mobility.
• Mid-Range (+22.95 £) — Broadened intermediate focal zones, optimised for multi-screen desktop workspaces.
• Near-Range (+22.95 £) — Maximised text reading depth, optimised for intensive screen work.
If you are a first-time progressive wearer, a subtle three to seven day transition and adjustment period is completely normal.
What if my lenses do not feel comfortable?
• Damaged or defective on arrival → We ship a full replacement, with no return required.
• Prescription correction → Our opticians will review, realign, and remake your lenses.
• Order parameter adjustment → We will re-execute the pair with updated parameters for a nominal fee.
Your visual health is checked at every step by certified technicians. You are in safe hands.
How can you provide premium quality at these prices?
A standard progressive pair at traditional opticians averages 350–600 £. The raw materials and frames rarely cost more than 30 £ to produce; the remainder represents storefront inflation. We simply opted out of that inflation.
